The Crimson Dragon was the moniker of an unknown Chinese nationalist during World War II who wore a distinctive dragon mask and flowing crimson and gold embroidered robes. He apparently fought during both the Boxer Rebellion against the European Colonial Powers and was a fierce opponent of the Japanese during their invasion of China in World War II. It was rumored that the Rape of Nanking eliminated his family and drove the unknown Chinese officer insane with hatred and the need for revenge, whereupon he created the Crimson Dragon identity.

The Crimson Dragon attempted to re-establish the Chinese Empire and declared himself the new Dragon Emperor. When the Japanese were finally driven out of China, it was not enough, and crazed with bloodlust he continued the attack into Japan and began "the annihilation of Nippon."

His final act was to steal an atomic bomb from the United States of America. Near the end of WWII, the United States had developed atomic weapons. The USA dropped a hydrogen bomb on Hiroshima, Japan, on August 6, 1945, thus ending World War II. But before the final official Peace Treaty was signed with Emperor Hirohito, the Crimson Dragon stole an atom bomb and the B-17 Eagle from a secret island base in the Pacific Ocean and flew it to Japan. The Knights managed to intercept and board the plane over Nagasaki but were unable to stop the Crimson Dragon from detonating the device.

The Crimson Dragon was killed in the destruction of Nagasaki, Japan, on August 9, 1945, along with Seamaster, his Mermen from Mu, Captain Redeagle, and Spirit Boxer of the Knights.
